Position Overview/Job Summary:

Under general supervision, the blender will blend raw bulk ingredients (spices) in large equipment to formulate specific assigned batches. The blender must complete all production record documents, cross-check ingredients, monitor the blending equipment, and pay close attention to finished goods (appearance, smell). The blender must also follow all GMP’S and food safety procedures, properly tag all finished batches according to batch specifications, and work closely with QC team to collect lab samples. The blender follows specific recipes and processes to select, verify, weigh, and mix raw materials, oils, and flavors to be manufactured or packaged in compliance with various regulations. He/she will function within a team-style work environment to accurately follow procedures and complete documentation that begins the production process.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Follow all safety procedures and always work as safe as possible.
  • Comply with GMP, HACCP, & company safety policies and procedures
  • Maintain sanitation level in blending area at all times
  • Cross trains to perform work on other lines, works closely with leads, operators, and supervisors
  • Check daily blending scheduling and request production record documents from supervisor.
  • Inspect the blending equipment to ensure safety.
  • Clean & sterilize blending tools
  • Confirm with quality control if equipment is ready to operate.
  • Continuously and repeatedly load the equipment with raw bulk ingredients.
  • Follow the detailed production record document instructions and blend according to mixing steps/formula.
  • Measure and weigh ingredients accurately, ensuring the correct ratios and proportions for product consistency
  • Monitor blending equipment to ensure it is functioning properly and perform routine maintenance as necessary
  • Conduct quality checks during the blending process to verify that products meet the required specifications
  • Follow all production procedures and complete paperwork accurately.
  • Identify and report unsafe work conditions right away to management.
  • Maintain a clean and organized area.
  • Wash equipment as required per blend schedule.
  • Safely weighs and transfers materials during the batch preparation process.
  • Accurately records consumption of all materials and verifies.
  • Cleans and sanitizes all equipment and tools as required between batches.
  • Delivers products to the blending area using a forklift or pallet jack.
  • Organize/store/move warehouse raw materials in racking, rotates stock and lot numbers.
  • Selects materials based on lot number and item number per batch ticket or recipe.
  • Follow instructions from supervisor (regarding policies, procedures and all changes that may occur).
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Adhere to and enforce all personal safety procedures; promptly escalate any safety concerns to management
  • Consistent and punctual attendance is essential.
  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
  • May be required to assist in training team members or provide coverage during absences, although the position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support production and operational needs.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic math skills, including understanding of weights and measurements.
  • Proactively troubleshoots and resolves machinery issues.
  • Comfortable working in environments with dust and strong odors (e.g., spices and seasonings).
  • Prior experience with mixing or blending raw materials preferred.
  • Capable of operating a forklift safely, including in tight or confined spaces.
  • Responsible for performing sanitation of production equipment to meet safety and quality standards.
  • Must be able to read and write in English.
  • Demonstrates teamwork by collaborating effectively with coworkers to achieve common goals.
  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Completes assigned tasks accurately, thoroughly, and in the correct sequence.
  • Flexible to work different shifts, hours, or overtime as needed—especially during peak seasons.
  • Experience working in a continuous production environment with exposure to noise, dust, moving machinery, forklifts, and varying temperatures.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift a minimum of 65 lbs.
  • Ability to handle food samples safely and hygienically.
  • Capable of performing physical tasks including sitting, using hands and arms, twisting, bending, pushing, and pulling.
  • Comfortable working in environments with varying temperatures (hot or cool) and occasional high noise levels.
