Location: New York City, Midtown Manhattan – Fashion District (On-Site)

Department: Design – Women’s Outerwear

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Designer, Women’s Outerwear with strong technical and creative capabilities to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in developing seasonal collections, from initial concept through to final production, with a keen eye for trend research and a strong command of Illustrator for flats and tech packs. This role will collaborate across functions to bring innovative, trend-right, and commercially viable products to market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create detailed flat sketches and comprehensive tech packs using Adobe Illustrator for all product classifications.
  • Maintain daily communication with overseas offices and internal cross-functional teams to ensure smooth product development.
  • Manage multiple seasonal collections simultaneously, ensuring all deliverables are accurate and on time.
  • Organize and maintain digital and physical files for specs, development packages, and approvals.
  • Develop and source seasonal fabric qualities in partnership with overseas vendors.
  • Conduct trend research and gather inspiration from magazines, vintage archives, retail markets, and online resources.
  • Translate market trends into relevant design and styling concepts.
  • Collaborate with merchandising and production teams to ensure alignment on pricing, SKU counts, and product mix.
  • Track and manage the development calendar, setting and meeting key deadlines.
  • Conduct fittings and partner with technical design to ensure proper fit and execution of styles.
  • Support seasonal concept development and contribute to the overall design direction.
  • Provide clear direction and feedback to graphic designers and design assistants throughout development.
  • Create and maintain design boards, CADs, and line sheets to support seasonal presentations and assortments.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Women’s Outerwear Design, with a strong portfolio showcasing versatility across silhouettes and materials.
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Exceptional sketching skills and ability to translate concepts into clear, technical illustrations.
  • Solid understanding of specification and tech pack process from design through production.
  • Strong commercial awareness with understanding of price points, margins, and financial impact of design decisions.
  • Experience designing across multiple market levels, including high street, bridge, and high-end/luxury.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence cross-functional partners and leadership.
  • Keen eye for emerging trends, styling details, and consumer preferences, with ability to apply insights to product design.

The pay range for this position is: $70,000 – $80,000 per year.
