Company Description

Our family-owned company operates two small hotel adjacent to UVA as well as a graduates-only apartment building. There are eight buildings in total.

Role Description

The Head Engineer will oversee the maintenance and operation of the properties' facilities, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and grounds, and pool. Daily responsibilities include conducting routine inspections, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues promptly, managing preventive maintenance schedules, and supervising a maintenance team. Role includes collaborating with external vendors, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations to uphold the highest standards of guest and employee comfort.

Qualifications

• Basic troubleshooting and preventive maintenance of HVAC, electrical systems, and general building systems.
• Experience in team management, training, and coordinating across departments
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills
• Knowledge of safety regulations, building codes, and preventative maintenance strategies
• Proficiency with relevant technical tools and maintenance software
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with hotel staff
• Prior experience in hospitality engineering or property management is a plus
