Job Description

📖 About AI-Media

AI-Media started out in Australia back in 2003, and since then, we’ve grown into a global company making content more accessible through captioning, transcription, translation, and audio description services. You’ll find our work across education, corporate, broadcast, and government sectors. We’ve got teammates across the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and Asia — and we’re proud of the diverse, inclusive culture we’ve built along the way. If we reach out to set up an interview and you need any support or adjustments to make the process work for you, just let us know — we’re here to help.

🔧 About the Role

Make a Global Impact with AI-Media. Are you looking for a dynamic opportunity with a fast-growing, ASX-listed global company? At AI-Media (ASX:AIM), we’re on a mission to make the world’s video content accessible to everyone, everywhere. As a Head of Product Design & UX, you will be our first dedicated design leader— a hybrid IC/strategist who will raise the bar on user experience across our core products. Join our passionate, innovative tech team based in Brooklyn, NY.

🚀 What You’ll Do

Until now, design decisions have been shared between product managers and front-end developers. We're ready for a dedicated leader who can unify the experience across our product portfolio while delivering immediate UX improvements where they’re needed most. You’ll be hands-on in crafting key workflows and visuals while also championing a long-term design vision. This is a unique opportunity to shape the foundation of design at Ai-Media and build toward a scalable practice. You’ll work across a set of industry-leading tools that support live media accessibility and translation, including:

  • LEXI Text – Live ASR captioning and subtitling
  • Alta – Professional captioning/translation over broadcast IP
  • LEXI Voice – Real-time speech-to-speech translation
  • Additional internal and customer-facing tools used by media operations teams worldwide

🌍 Why join us?

We’re a purpose-driven global tech company making content more inclusive and accessible. We’re building AI-powered media tech that’s reshaping how content is captioned and consumed — used by broadcasters, educators, and governments worldwide. We value diverse perspectives and are proud to be an LGBT+ certified business. We love creative problem-solvers — your ideas won’t just be heard, they’ll be built. Our tech is deployed globally, and we’re scaling — fast. Make your next role matter. Join us in creating technology that breaks down barriers, one word at a time. Together, let's make the world’s content accessible – to everyone!

🧠 What You Bring

Required Experience

• 7–9 years of professional UX/UI design, including 3+ years leading or mentoring (e.g. Senior UX Designer, Lead)

• Bachelor’s in HCI, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Computer Science, Psychology, or similar

• Portfolio demonstrating user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity prototypes, and measurable impact

• Practical UX skills: audits, research, usability testing, and delivery of production-ready assets

• Familiarity with broadcast hardware: encoder UIs, decoder dashboards, and hardware interface controls

• Proven partnership with Product, Engineering (firmware/UI integration), Support, Sales, and Ops to craft user-centered solutions

• Tool fluency (Figma/Sketch/Adobe), plus front-end tech (HTML/CSS/JS) for clear handoff to engineers

• Strategic mindset: own the UX vision, advocate for design, and navigate ambiguity in fast-paced hardware/software sprints

• Based in or near NYC, able to collaborate in our DUMBO office on a hybrid schedule

Preferred Experience

• Master’s in HCI, UX, or related field

• Built or scaled design teams—mentoring, recruiting, and evangelizing best practices

• Expertise in design systems spanning hardware control panels and cloud-based dashboards

• Enterprise/B2B SaaS background, ideally in live media, broadcast, or captioning/subtitling tools

• Data-driven UX: experience with A/B testing in production environments

• Inclusive design acumen: WCAG standards and accessible hardware interface guidance

• Comfortable in Agile: iterative workflows, sprint planning, and continuous delivery of firmware/UI updates
