Human Subjects Review Board Intern (UNPAID INTERNSHIP)

Location: 150 N. 18th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85007

** Both in person and teleworking**

Position Details:

- The HSRB intern will join our team for 16-20 weeks, working 10 hours each week.

- Start date - As soon as you’re ready we can accommodate your class schedule so that you may work during business hours.

-You will need to upload a copy of your resume, transcripts and cover letter explaining how your skills are a good fit for this position, must have a current GPA standing of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

- This is an unpaid internship

JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a curious, detail-oriented, ambitious intern who is working toward a degree and wants to develop beyond the classroom!

In this role, you will play a supporting role in organizing and streamlining internal processes, communicating with researchers and state programs, and contributing to the Board’s thorough review of data requests to the department.

You will also have the opportunity to assist with intake of new research submissions to the HSRB, including the review of research protocols, organization of submission materials, and clear communication with researchers; Monitor and report on review timelines and processing metrics; Draft internal policies, standard work, and procedures; Support special projects involving program evaluation, continuous improvement, and training development. You will be coached and mentored by the Human Subjects Review Board Administrator, and/or others on the team by collaborating with them on projects.

YOU WILL BRING THE FOLLOWING TO THE INTERNSHIP:

● Strong organizational and professional communication skills

● Strong knowledge of Google Workspace, including Google Sites, Forms, Docs, Sheets, Slides and Drive

● Time management, planning, and problem solving skills

● Ability to identify and troubleshoot technical challenges

● Familiarity with research methods, public health data sharing, and Institutional Review Boards (IRBs)

● Demonstrated understanding of confidentiality, customer service, and ethical data practices

● Understanding of cultural humility

● Understanding of Arizona communities, factors impacting community health, and data. YOU WILL GAIN THE FOLLOWING FROM THIS INTERNSHIP:

PRE EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

Employees who drive on state business require possession of and the ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any driver training (See Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.11).
