Job Description

About Digital Pioneers Academy

Digital Pioneers Academy is a tuition-free public charter middle and high school, open to all students. We empower students to develop marketable computer science skills and habits of innovation so they can experience a future of choice. Our mission is to develop the next generation of innovators. We prepare scholars to meet or exceed the highest academic standards, while cultivating the strength of character necessary to graduate from four-year colleges and thrive in 21st-century careers.

Position Overview

Digital Pioneers Academy is seeking a dynamic, highly organized, and mission-driven Interim Chief of Staff to serve as a trusted thought partner and operational leader to the Founder & CEO during a critical period of growth and execution.

This is a high-impact, temporary leadership role ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of strategy, operations, and executive leadership. The Interim Chief of Staff will play a pivotal role in translating vision into action—driving strategic priorities forward, strengthening cross-functional alignment, and ensuring the organization operates with clarity, urgency, and excellence.

You will work closely with the CEO, school leadership, and the Board of Directors to ensure that key initiatives move from idea to execution, that leaders are supported and aligned, and that the CEO’s time and focus are leveraged for maximum organizational impact.

This role is best suited for a proactive problem-solver, systems-builder, and strong communicator who can step in quickly, earn trust, and add value from day one.

Why This Role Matters

At DPA, we believe strong schools are built through strong leadership, clear systems, and relentless follow-through. As Interim Chief of Staff, you will help ensure that our strategic priorities—fundraising, partnerships, school operations, and leadership effectiveness—move forward without interruption during a key leadership transition. Your work will directly support our ability to serve scholars, staff, and families with excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Executive Leadership Support

  • Manage the CEO’s calendar. Identify, propose and implement opportunities to streamline the CEO’s calendar and priorities to maximize efficiency and impact.
  • Draft and manage correspondence, prepare briefing materials, and coordinate internal and external meetings for the CEO.
  • Daily, review CEO inbox and provide a brief summary for CEO for review/input.
  • Identity and implement a project management tool (e.g. Asana) with CEO and leadership team to manage task flow and support accountability.

Strategic Initiatives

  • Partner with the CEO to plan, lead, and monitor the execution of strategic initiatives that drive school growth, operational excellence, and student success.
  • Current examples would be Orr Fundraising engagement and upcoming Afton Group engagement
  • Anticipate challenges and proactively recommend solutions to enhance organizational efficiency.
  • Track progress toward goals, ensuring projects remain on time and on budget.

School Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Build strong alignment and communication between the school leadership team and school staff.
  • Establish systems for accountability and follow-through on organizational priorities.
  • Prepare, organize, and distribute school leadership team agendas and materials, and support the CEO in tracking and following up on team decisions, action items, and deliverables.
  • Facilitate regular information flow to ensure all teams understand and are working toward the school’s strategic goals.

Board Relations

  • Serve as primary liaison between the CEO and the Board of Directors to ensure timely and effective communication.
  • Prepare, organize, and distribute board meeting agendas, materials, and presentations.
  • Support the CEO in tracking and following up on board decisions, action items, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate logistics for board meetings and committee meetings, ensuring compliance with all applicable governance and reporting requirements.

Required Skills & Experience

While no one person will embody all the qualifications listed below, the ideal candidate will possess many of the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • 6–10 years of progressively responsible experience in operations, strategy, chief of staff, or senior administrative roles, preferably in education, nonprofit, or mission-driven organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with executive leadership, managing complex priorities, and translating strategic goals into actionable plans.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and with senior stakeholders, including boards.
  • Strong judgment, discretion, and ability to operate with professionalism and integrity.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment, balancing multiple priorities with limited supervision.
  • Commitment to Digital Pioneers Academy’s mission and belief in educational equity and student success.
