Job Description

The New York State Unified Court System is offering a one-year Legal Fellowship available at the NYS Judicial Institute in White Plains, New York. The fellowships are temporary and are renewable for one additional year at the discretion of the Judicial Institute. A comprehensive state employment benefits package will be available.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Researching and analyzing complex legal issues.
  • Drafting orders, opinions, and correspondence.
  • Proofreading opinions.
  • Learning and utilizing court technologies and resources.
  • Preparing for trials, which includes drafting jury charges and verdict forms.

Qualifications: Receipt of a Juris Doctor degree from a fully accredited law school. Applicants must have graduated no more than 3 years prior to the date of appointment. Participation on law journal/law review preferred

Base Pay: $84,659 + $4,920 Location Pay
