Salary: $65,000 – $80,000 per year
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a Patient Access Manager II for a direct hire opportunity in Chattanooga, TN . This onsite role is ideal for individuals passionate about healthcare administration and patient service. The position plays a critical role in supporting hospital operations through patient registration, scheduling, financial clearance, and customer service functions.
Job Summary
The Patient Access Manager is responsible for ensuring smooth and efficient patient access processes within a hospital setting. This includes registration, scheduling, admissions, discharge processing, and patient education on financial responsibilities. The role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and register patients following established standards for service and care
- Collect and verify complete and accurate demographic and insurance information
- Schedule diagnostic and treatment appointments, providing patients with relevant instructions
- Explain and obtain signatures on legal documents including consents, advance directives, and notifications
- Educate patients on their financial responsibilities and collect payments as appropriate
- Perform insurance verification, secure authorizations, and conduct medical necessity checks
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and federal regulations
- Accurately scan and file patient documents into electronic systems
- Reconcile cash and ensure proper payment posting procedures
- Assist with coordination of post-discharge services when necessary
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 0–1 year of experience in customer service
- 0–1 year of administrative or healthcare experience preferred
- Typing skills of at least 35 wpm
- Strong communication skills – written and verbal
- Familiarity with medical terminology and hospital processes is a plus
- Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
- Basic computer proficiency required
- Ability to read and interpret insurance cards and physician orders
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged sitting, standing, and walking
- Occasionally lift/carry up to 25 lbs
- May occasionally assist patients in wheelchairs
- Must be able to work at a computer terminal for extended periods
Work Environment
- Hospital-based, patient-facing setting
- May involve exposure to patients with serious medical conditions
- Must be available to work flexible hours based on department needs
- Role may involve periods of high patient volume and interaction with uncooperative patients
