Job Description

Job Title: Area Lead – Data Center Operations

Location: Fayetteville, GA (1435 SR-54 W Fayetteville, GA )

Duration: 8 Week+ Contract

Pay: $40-44/hr depending on experience

Job Summary

The Area Lead plays a critical leadership role in the day-to-day execution of data center deployment and operational tasks. This role serves as the front-line manager of technician teams, overseeing workstreams, clearing blockers, driving daily coordination, and ensuring that project timelines and quality standards are consistently met. The Area Lead is both a tactical executor and a strategic thinker—able to resolve issues on the fly while proactively planning ahead to reduce risk and maintain momentum.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct daily activities of technicians across assigned scopes (e.g., rack & stack, MOR builds, cable routing, labeling, cleanup, etc.)
  • Ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with DCPM and site-specific standards
  • Lead and document daily stand-ups with Lead Technicians; review and synthesize input from individual daily reports
  • Verify technician staffing, shift readiness, and scope alignment each day
  • Observe work in progress to ensure consistency, accountability, and productivity
  • Serve as first point of escalation for issues, blockers, and unexpected challenges
  • Independently resolve technical or operational issues when within authority
  • Escalate unresolved matters promptly to the Program Manager or Site Manager with context and recommendations
  • Maintain live issue tracker; proactively follow up on open items until resolution
  • Coordinate with cross-functional partners (safety, security, facilities, logistics) to clear roadblocks
  • Think several steps ahead—ensure technicians and Leads have the materials, access, instructions, and support they need to execute tomorrow’s work
  • Coordinate shift hand-offs and documentation across day and night teams
  • Support execution of look-ahead schedules and adapt plans based on site readiness or change orders
  • Anticipate and mitigate common risks (e.g., hardware delays, rework needs, equipment availability, manpower issues)
  • Summarize team output, challenges, and risk flags in daily reports to Program Manager and/or client
  • Communicate schedule changes, scope clarifications, or risk conditions to Leads in real time
  • Assist in maintaining project dashboards, tracking metrics like device counts installed, hours burned, and blockers removed

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • 3–5+ years of experience in data center or mission-critical environments, preferably in a supervisory or team lead capacity
  • Proven ability to manage and motivate technical teams in fast-paced, high-expectation settings
  • Strong communication skills; able to synthesize reports, lead meetings, and escalate with clarity
  • Familiarity with structured cabling, racking, equipment installation, labeling, and cable management standards
  • Ability to read and interpret installation diagrams, BOMs, and project scopes
  • Comfortable using Excel, SharePoint, and mobile reporting tools for tracking and documentation

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting data center projects or similar hyperscale clients
  • Familiarity with DCPM standards, shift planning, and escalation procedures
  • OSHA 10/30 or site-specific safety certifications
  • Experience with AI/GPU cluster deployments, MOR builds, and PRD cable scopes
