Sr MEP Superintendent

Location: Brooklyn, NY

Compensation: $225k to $270k salary, full benefits, 401k match, project bonuses

Overview:

A leading construction management firm is seeking a Sr Superintendent with a strong background in MEP systems to oversee largescale residential and mixed use projects in the New York City area. This role requires hands on field leadership, deep technical understanding of MEP coordination and installation, and the ability to drive complex projects to successful completion under demanding schedules.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience managing ground up highrise or multiphase construction projects involving substantial mechanical, electrical, and plumbing scopes, as well as utility tie-ins and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead onsite construction activities with an emphasis on MEP coordination, installation, and quality control.
• Schedule and sequence all MEP subcontractors, ensuring integration with structural and architectural trades.
• Oversee field execution of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems from rough-in through commissioning.
• Review MEP shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs to confirm design intent and identify potential conflicts early.
• Collaborate with engineers, consultants, and project management to resolve field issues in real time.
• Monitor all MEP testing, inspections, and start-up activities to ensure compliance with design specifications and code.
• Manage onsite documentation, daily reports, and progress tracking through project management software.
• Enforce strict adherence to safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, confined space, and hot work protocols.
• Conduct weekly subcontractor coordination meetings focused on MEP system progress and interface points.
• Support project closeout by leading punch lists, systems turnover, and final commissioning documentation.

Qualifications:

• NYC DOB Licensed Superintendent (required).
• 10–15 years of experience as a Superintendent, with at least 5 years leading MEP-focused construction.
• Proven experience managing installation and coordination of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
• Strong understanding of utility coordination, riser diagrams, and system startup/commissioning processes.
• Ability to read and interpret MEP shop drawings, P&IDs, and single-line diagrams.
• Familiarity with local building codes, DOB, Con Edison, DEP, and FDNY requirements.
• Exceptional communication and coordination skills to work effectively with engineers, consultants, and subcontractors.
• Experience in high-rise, mixed-use, healthcare, or mission-critical environments preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or related field is a plus.
• Ability to safely navigate active construction sites and lead by example in promoting safety culture.
