About the Job:
I am currently working with a respected mid-sized law firm in Michigan that is actively looking to add one associate attorney to their growing Labor & Employment practice. The firm is open to mid-level associates as well as partners with portable business. The Associate role is as follows:
Responsibilities:
- Handle a broad range of labor & employment matters with minimal supervision.
- Independently manage cases from intake through resolution, including drafting position statements, dispositive motions, and taking depositions.
- Advise clients on employment policies, risk mitigation, and workplace disputes (advice & counsel experience is a plus).
- Participate in mentorship within the group and support junior associates when needed.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- 3 to 4+ years of dedicated Labor & Employment experience (general litigation alone is not sufficient).
- Strong writing ability— writing samples such as position statements or MSJs will be required.
- Experience working in a metropolitan market (e.g., Chicago) is a plus.
- Admitted to practice law in any U.S. jurisdiction with reciprocity to Michigan; Michigan bar admission preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to run a caseload with autonomy.
- Strong interpersonal skills; a good personality fit is especially important for this team.
The Firm is Offering:
- Competitive starting compensation: $180–190K.
- Bonus structure starts at 1850 hours (1750 client + 100 other billable is the minimum annual requirement).
