Are you an experienced underwriter looking to make a significant impact in the insurance industry? Our client, a leading company in the insurance sector, is seeking a Middle Market Underwriter to join their dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a hybrid capacity in Morristown, New Jersey. You will play a pivotal role in managing broker relationships, driving profitability, and contributing to regional underwriting strategies. This position provides a platform to excel in a collaborative and fast-paced environment while advancing your career within the insurance industry.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as the lead underwriting contact for the regional territory, working closely with Regional Management.
• Manage regional broker planning, analysis, and development for assigned brokers.
• Achieve profitability, retention, and written premium goals set by the department.
• Conduct territory budgeting and forecasting for overall Gross Written Premium (GWP) production.
• Represent the Middle Market South region at key industry functions and events.
• Make independent decisions within underwriting authority while maintaining proper file documentation.
• Assist in developing annual business goals for assigned agents and producers.
• Analyze results and maintain accountability of agency partners within the department.
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of department products and services and articulate their value proposition clearly.
• Participate in training initiatives and projects to expand knowledge base.
• Travel as required (valid driver’s license necessary).

Must-Have Skills:

• Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of underwriting experience.
• Strong knowledge of Property, General Liability, Automobile, Umbrella, and Workers’ Compensation underwriting.
• Experience with risks in Manufacturing, Retail, Wholesale, Hospitality, and other general industries.
• Proficient in Excel, Outlook, Reference Connect, and ImageRight software.
• Established retail relationships with brokers in states such as Colorado, Arizona, and Texas.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Possession or pursuit of underwriting and industry designations applicable to specialization.
• Strong communication and analytical skills for pursuing new business and managing renewals.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Knowledge of advanced forecasting and budgeting techniques.
• Experience participating in industry events and fostering professional networks.
