Scenic Finisher – Contract Role

Location: Onsite in NE Minneapolis (55413)

Contract Length: Through January, with potential to extend

Rate: $20-30/hr W2 + benefits

About the Role

We’re looking for a Scenic Finisher to join a creative team that brings designs to life for photo shoots, in-store displays, experiential events, and custom installations. In this role, you’ll be the subject matter expert in finishing techniques, applying your artistic skills to achieve the exact look and feel needed for each project.

You’ll work closely with Fabrication, Design, and Project Management teams, evaluating finish requirements, selecting materials, and executing surface treatments using a wide range of techniques—from spray, brush, and roller applications to custom textures and artistic details.

This is an onsite role in NE Minneapolis where you’ll help create unique, one-of-a-kind finishes that support high-profile projects.

What You’ll Do

• Execute a variety of finishing techniques (spray, brush, roller) to bring scenic and custom fabrication projects to life
• Collaborate with designers and project managers to evaluate finish requirements and select appropriate materials
• Ensure finishes meet artistic and technical specifications while staying on schedule
• Work safely and efficiently in a shop environment and occasionally onsite for events or installations
• Support a fast-paced workflow with tight timelines and multiple projects

What We’re Looking For

• Degree or certificate in art, scenic design, visual design, or related field, OR equivalent hands-on experience
• 5+ years’ experience in custom finishing, scenic art, theatrical painting, fine finishes, or similar work
• Strong attention to detail and ability to adapt to changing requirements
• Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs. and working in varied environments
• Flexible schedule with occasional travel or onsite/set support

Preferred Background

• Experience in scenic art, theater set finishing, custom painting, or art installations
• Knowledge of digital or traditional fabrication processes (CNC, laser cutting, etc.) is a plus
• A creative eye for textures, colors, and materials
