Responsibilities

This position will be responsible for supporting the Real Time Grid Engineering (RTE) team in the Portland Control Center (PCC) by performing tasks such as assisting/gathering of outage investigation information, assisting with the development of new and existing software tools being utilized by RTE's, assisting with development of ESS (Enhanced Safety Settings) switching orders to support EFR activations, and performing secondary short circuit analysis to refine the distribution model to improve fault locating results.

  • Assist Real Time Engineers in gathering information for distribution outage investigations.
  • Develop moderately complex engineering studies of limited scope and prepare data for analysis.
  • Perform load flow and short circuit studies utilizing CYME software to validate relay fault current and circuit loading information.
  • Assist with development of new and existing software tools utilized by Real Time Engineering team.
  • Update company standards, drawings, and records accordingly.

Requirements

  • Enrolled full time in an accredited engineering college/university
  • Sophomore standing or higher in electrical/mechanical/civil engineering or a related field
  • Ability to interact favorably with project and work teams
  • Communication and interpersonal skills involving the ability to work cross-functionally to understand requirements, present alternatives, and recommendations
  • Proficient with the use of personal computers and automated tools
  • Average hours of work per week not to exceed 20 hours per week per calendar year
