Avantik is seeking a Senior Product Marketing Manager with 5+ years in the healthcare (Anatomic Pathology a +) industry.

Summary/objective

The Senior Product Manager will be responsible for managing existing and new product pipelines cross-functionally to ensure appropriate organizational set-up, management, and optimization, as needed. The Senior Product Manager will also be responsible for pursuing new market opportunities, collaborating with Purchasing, Sales, and Operations and implementing new product categories into the Avantik portfolio at the request of Commercial leadership.

Essential functions

  • Manage, assess and own assigned existing product portfolio, aligning with commercial objectives and ensuring optimal product offerings are available to Avantik customers.
  • Conduct product portfolio reviews. Support portfolio strategy by providing marketing research, initiating market research, defining market trends, investigating customer needs, and defining customer and product requirements. Identify product gaps, make informed recommendations regarding new product opportunities, product enhancements or product line extensions and obsolescence/discontinuation.
  • Pursue new product considerations at the direction of company leadership.
  • Establish a product launch check list and SOP; manage the market readiness planning, organizational strategy and implementation planning and launch activities.
  • Collaborate with the Commercial and Marketing teams to develop and implement product focused initiatives that align with the comprehensive marketing plans, including pricing strategy/promotions, collateral and messaging creation, and commercial execution. Define and prioritize the development of new marketing collateral to support new product launches and existing products within the portfolio. Update marketing collateral cross-functionally, based on product positioning, specifications, changes to the product, etc.
  • Prepare product forecasts to include revenue and expense expectations. Analyze sales trends over time and impact of competitive strategies. Support forecasts and budgets with appropriately detailed marketing plans.
  • Work with Supply Chain/Purchasing and Operations to reduce Cost of Goods, improve customer experiences, etc. by assessing packaging, alternate materials, new sources of material, stocking, make to order, direct to customer shipments, etc. Support Supply Chain/Purchasing with pricing negotiations for optimal transfer cost, list price and GP.
  • Support commercial needs for custom items, unique customer requests and liaison customer / sales requests with Supply Chain/Purchasing and Operations to streamline requests and execute on profitable and sustainable product partnerships and custom items.
  • Determine service and equipment needs for new and existing product lines, lead in commercial organization, partnerships and implementation plans to ensure Avantik Service plans are established for all equipment partnerships and equipment within the Avantik portfolio.
  • Partner with Operations, Service, and Equipment teams to ensure manufacturer manuals, SDS sheets, certificates, and all other equipment related specs are available to customers.
  • Develop and deliver training materials for internal stakeholders, commercial team and customers. Serve as subject matter expert on competitive product landscape and provide insights and perspective as needed to commercial team.
  • Support commercial needs for all product inquiries, product performance assessments, new product requests, purchasing agreements such as standing orders and ensuring operational and purchasing alignment to such requests.
  • Partner with the Application Specialist during field application testing on all new product considerations.
  • Institute mechanisms that enable the tracking and reporting of established marketing KPIs; update relevant metrics trackers.
  • Contribute to routine updates to the commercial team and management via monthly marketing reviews.

Competencies

  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Product Positioning and Brand Management
  • Experience launching new healthcare products
  • Project Management, Budget Management
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including management level presentation skills
  • Comfort with multi-tasking in a deadline-driven environment
  • Strong collaboration and organizational skills. Can lead cross-functional teams towards commercial success
  • Experience translating science and customer feedback to marketing messages
  • Strong market analytics background
  • Ability to report on sales, trends and future projections

Supervisory responsibilities

  • Supervision of vendors/partners and non-direct report marketing team members.
  • Direct and supervise work of any necessary temporary, freelance or intern contractors responsible for product management.
  • Up to 3 direct reports.

Travel required

  • Position requires approximately 15-20% annual travel to customer, vendor, manufacturer meetings, as needed. Regional, national tradeshows / events, etc.

Other duties

  • Assume special projects as assigned
  • Maintain familiarity with market trends and product/category innovation
  • Assist with set up and tear down of internal and external company events
